Introduction to Jiatel IC and TO Sockets

Integrated Circuit (IC) Sockets

Jiatel is a leading manufacturer of high-quality IC sockets, providing a wide range of solutions to meet various electronic connectivity needs. Our IC sockets are designed to ensure reliable and efficient connections between integrated circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs).

What are IC Sockets Used for?

  • Test ICs
Our IC sockets are essential tools for testing the reliability, functionality, and electrical characteristics of ICs. They allow for easy insertion and removal of IC devices, enabling repeated evaluation of multiple ICs without damaging the chips or the PCBs.
  • Prevent Damage
IC sockets protect ICs from potential damage during soldering and desoldering processes. This is particularly important for heat-sensitive chips, as our sockets allow for easy installation after the PCB has undergone soldering, extending the life of both the IC and the PCB.
  • Replace Damaged ICs
In the event of a faulty or failing IC, our sockets make it easy to replace the damaged component without causing any harm to the PCB. This ensures minimal downtime and cost-effective maintenance of electronic devices.

How can IC sockets be mounted?

  • Surface Mounting
Our surface-mount IC sockets are designed for direct soldering onto the surface of a substrate. These sockets typically feature gull-wing or stub tail leads, making them ideal for high-performance, double-sided, densely populated PCBs and miniaturized electronic components.
  • Through-Hole Solder Mounting
For lower-density, larger assemblies, our through-hole solder mount IC sockets are the perfect choice. These sockets have solder tails that pass through PCB holes and are soldered to secure the connection.
  • Press-fit Mounting
Our press-fit mount IC sockets offer a solder-free solution, making them ideal for applications where environmental conditions may affect the integrity of the connection. These sockets are designed with square, triangular, or other polygon features that press into the PCB hole, ensuring a reliable mechanical and electrical connection.

Types of IC Sockets

Single Inline Package (SIP) Strip

Our SIP sockets are designed to accommodate the most common lead sizes of SIP ICs. They consist of a rectangular insulator populated with receptacles and are available in various pitch/pin-to-pin spacing options, including single, double, and triple row configurations. We also offer different termination styles such as through-hole, surface-mount, wire termination, and press-fit.

Dual Inline Package (DIP)

Dual Inline Package (DIP)

Our DIP sockets are compatible with the most popular packaging style for integrated circuits. They feature a rectangular insulator with two parallel rows of receptacles and are available in standard pitch/pin-to-pin spacing of .100” (2.54 mm). We offer a variety of termination styles, including solder tail, surface-mount, wire termination, and press-fit options.

Pin Grid Array (PGA)

Pin Grid Array (PGA) For high-pin count ICs, our PGA sockets provide a reliable solution. These sockets are designed with low-force 6-finger contacts to ease insertion and extraction of the device. We offer different contact options to suit various pin counts, ensuring optimal performance and durability.

Ball Grid Array (BGA)

Ball Grid Array (BGA)

Our BGA sockets are designed for surface-mount packaging of integrated circuits such as microprocessors. They feature a two-piece adapter system that makes BGA devices pluggable, consisting of a male header and a female socket. We offer standard pitch options of .8mm, 1mm, and .050” to meet different application requirements.

PLCC Socket

PLCC Socket

We provide a variety of PLCC sockets for both through-hole and surface-mount applications. Our sockets are compatible with JEDEC PLCCs MS-016, MS-018, MO-047 & MO-052 leaded plastic substrates and feature a low-profile design for high-density PCB stacking. They also include standoffs for heat dissipation and cleaning, as well as internal standoffs to ensure proper positioning of the chip carrier in the socket.

Transistor Socket (TO)

Transistor Socket (TO) Our TO transistor sockets are designed to simplify the replacement of through-hole transistors. They are available in both through-hole and surface-mount termination options and are compatible with most standard package types, adhering to TO-5 and TO-100 footprint requirements. This makes them ideal for field applications where quick and convenient transistor replacement is needed.
